Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Quinebaug River, and the       scenery at Wakefield Pond Dam is charming. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Wakefield Pond; camping is available at Buck Hill Family Campground.
