Yawgoo Valley is a great site to do that, and Blue Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Whispering Pines Campground is a great local campground. So much entertaining stuff to do at Blue Pond, so little time. The high level of rainfall makes Blue Pond a reasonably wet location; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. On a lovely day you obtain a vista of Brightman Hill from       Blue Pond, and if you need a place to stay La Quinta Inn and Suites Stonington is a glorious choice. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Blue Pond; Clayhead Nature Trail is a splendid local trail. There's so much to do here at Blue Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Greenwood Hill Family Camp Ground is a tremendous place for that. During the warmest time of the year at Blue Pond temperatures are usually in the 80's, and through summer nights                  temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Blue Pond dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Paddling on Matunuck Shore Break is so much fun. Lakes? Sure, Ashville Pond is close by. Blue Pond Dam is a place that is close to Blue Pond, and some of the water close by flows, like Log House Brook. Just can't get enough of Blue Pond. Get dripping wet paddling on Quinebaug River; dry warm beds await you at Budget Inn-Near Foxwoods. This lake is so wonderful. There's pleasant hiking along the Narragansett Trail; a day at gorgeous Browning Mill Pond Area Beach in close proximity to Blue Pond is a delightful thing to do. This lake is so wonderful.
