Woodville Pond is a great lake right next door to Alton Pond; the view of pretty Coon Hill is delightful. Beaches are tremendous; and East Beach next to Alton Pond is no exception, and you can stay the night at Frontier Family Camper Park. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Matunuck Shore Break, and after a long day       outdoors Sandy Shore Motel and Apts is a good place to spend a night or two. Alton Pond gets a good deal of water; the month with most of the rain is November, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. A pretty lake like Plain Pond in the neighborhood of Alton Pond is a delightful place to go to, and hiking along the Narragansett Trail is delightful fun. For the duration of the summertime months, highs ordinarily are in the 80's                  at Alton Pond. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Alton Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Have a fine hiking adventure along the Clayhead Nature Trail, and Yawgoo Valley has pleasant slopes and a friendly staff. A nice beach close to Alton Pond is Burlingame State Park Beach, and Budget Inn-Near Foxwoods is a nice site to get some rest. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this site. Take a side journey to Canonchet Brook. Now, you may think that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Alton Pond.
