If you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Areciebo River, of course you could also check out Laguna Tortuguero while you're here; it's not far at all. A good deal of rainfall falls at Laguna de Puerto Nuevo; the month with most of the rain is November, and February meanwhile is the driest month. What a site this is for outdoors folks. A lake close by is Laguna Rica, and Boca del Cibuco is rather close. Cerro Cibuco is picturesque and can be distinguished from Laguna de Puerto Nuevo, and                  nearby you come across the Shoe Line Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful.
