Fiddle Lake
17 miles away
My grandmother owned a house on Fiddle Lake. It is a beautiful area. Very secluded from the outside towns, however so if you are planning a trip, just know it takes about 45 minutes to get to the nearest town for groceries....Fiddle Lake is the highest eleveated lake in Pa so the water is still refreshing on hot summer days! Theres no public access for fishing but if you are lucky enough to find a cottage rental you can catch all the pan fish you want. Just release the bass due to lake association rules....

Lackawanna River
18 miles away
Nice section of the river. Scenerey is very good at the beginning but sort of degrades as you approach Carbondale. Rapids are mostly cobbles with a few rock gardens and several ledges. One that can surprise you is the ledge just before Simpson. Kind of sneaks up on you. Depending upon water level, can be a 2 - 3 foot drop. This drop should be scouted to check for strainers. Go straight through gap at center with boof or make a left at the crag in river center for a blind twisting chute. The river gradient is pretty steep so there is just about constant white water class I and II....

Wilsonville Recreation Area
19 miles away
Wilsonville is fun and enjoyable for you and your family. You can camp, boat, or fish. Everything is well maintained and enjoyable. Wilsonville has been enjoyable for the past five years that I 've been going there. I look to have another great year at Wilsonville again this year!...I found Wilsonville to be a nice family campground. The facilities are well maintained, and they offer both wooded and camper sights. They even have some walk-in sights near the lake.
One of the best points is that they have launches and docks for boating on beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack. We have gone for the past 2 years and plan on doing so again this year....

Elk Mountain

Elk is uncrowded and really fun. They seem to make the best out off the conditions weather gives them. Good, long trails(for Pa). I liked the mini park. The ''bigger'' park made the best of the space. I surface lift in the park lets you session as long as you want, and stay in the park. Great for dialing in on my skillz. Couple of the rail and box features are really cool. I will go to Elk a couple times a year....
