Do stop by Walker Lake while you're in this part of Pennsylvania. Camping at Kittatiny Campgrounds is always a good experience; dry warm beds await you at RPAMI - Red Carpet Inn Milford. This lake is so wonderful. Walker Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Tel Yehuda is a tremendous local campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Shohola Creek. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Walker
Lake; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; February on the other hand is the driest.
If the weather is pleasant here at Walker Lake, you can go for a hike along the Bald Hill Trail; at Twin Lakes Dam next to Walker Lake there are some exciting things to see. What would winter be without some skiing at Holiday Mountain, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Maple Brook Trail. Very scenic scenery and magnificent skiing is what

you get at Tanglwood, and Delaware National Scenic River is a great local destination.
Get your pulse rate up on the delightful whitewater of Lackawaxen River, and there is a glorious hiking trail close by called the Lost Cabin Trail. If you love the outdoors, you'll love Walker Lake. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. Nearby lakes? Sure, Twin Lakes is near Walker Lake, and Sap Brook is in the neighborhood of Walker Lake and is always a joy to take a look at.

Shohola Creek
Raft??? First off, I cant see raft going through box canyon. It might be possible, but I wouldn't want to see someone I care about be the first. After the box, downstream of the route 6 bridge, you would need a lot of rain, I mean an awful lot of rain to get through the flat water section. Personally, I do some tough runs (CL4+) and I'm not sure I'd wanna be there with that much water. With plenty of water, medium level, we were scraping a lot in the flat water section. Also, in the canyon, if someone gets hurt, they are in for a bad day. This is evident by looking at a typo map or looking down from route three bridge. ''outside the state you might find the rivers here are more forgiving''. My travel for White Water is limited: NY, NJ, MA, CT, WV, MD, VT, NC. Never been out west. With my limited experience the above states and PA and 5 years kayaking including winter, I have no clue what the above quote means. Ratings CL1-5 (6 being a rating meaning it might not be runable), while far from perfect is a pretty good indication of water difficulty. Don't paddle here unless you know wha...
