Joseph Smyth Pond is a splendid lake near Shawnee Lake, and if you're here and you like golf, you can take a look at Bedford Elks Lodge 1707 Golf Course. If you come       at the right time of year, Clear Shade Creek offers some great whitewater, and if you need a place to stay Best Western Bedford Inn is a tremendous choice. On a magnificent day at Shawnee Lake you can take a hike along the Fair View Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such peaceful spots, why not explore John C Smith Reservoir next to Shawnee Lake, and you don’t have to go far from Shawnee Lake to observe the water at Shawnee Dam. A fine nearby hotel                  is Quality Inn Bedford; there is a tremendous hiking trail close by called the Cabin Trail. From a rainfall point of view Shawnee Lake is a relatively normal place; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and October is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Some of the water close by flows, like Shawnee Branch. There's so much to do here at Shawnee Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Shawnee Sleepy Hollow Campground is a glorious spot for that. Skiing at Blue Knob is one of those things you just have to do, and going for a hike on the Garlick Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Shawnee Lake. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's.
