From a rain point of view Opossum Lake is a rather common spot; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February. Be careful coming to Opossum Lake, you might not ever want to return home again. Opossum Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Bienvenu Canadian is a tremendous local campground, and hiking along the Rock       Skree Trail is perfect fun. Opossum Lake Dam is a site that is next to Opossum Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Conewago Creek - West. There's some flowing water nearby, Mount Rock Spring Creek is a stream you can go to while you're here; camping at Western Village RV Park is always a good experience. This lake is so wonderful. Opossum Lake is right by the Pine Plantation Trail, and there are plenty                  of people from Gettysburg here. After a long day outdoors Carlisle Super 8 Motel is a good place to spend a night or two; golf can be played at Cumberland Golf Club. Have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Maple Hollow Trail, and a great nearby hotel is Fairfield Inn & Suites Carlisle. Through the warmest time of the year at Opossum Lake highs are usually in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows dip down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Opossum Lake are in the 10's.
