Number One Reservoir is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Don't leave Number One Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Yellick Path. There's so much to do here at Number One Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Rosemount Camping Resort is a fine place for that. This lake is so wonderful. | | wonderful. Go for a hike on the Pinnacle Trail; golf can be played at White Birch Golf Course. Going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a pleasant adventure; Black Creek is a magnificent whitewater spot nearby. Head up to Blue Marsh and strap some skis to your feet, and after a long day outdoors Residence Inn Hazleton is a brilliant location to spend a night or two. Ridge Lake Campground is a great local campground. You get a tremendous vista of Bears Head from Number One Reservoir, and a lake nearby is Number Two Reservoir. Just can't get enough of Number One Reservoir. Number One Reservoir
is not the only place close by, Blue Head Reservoir is a close by lake, and Blue Head Dam has great water scenery. Number One Reservoir is a good site of normal rainfall; June is the month that gets the most rain, and February
is when it's the driest. High temperatures at Number One Reservoir through the summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are mostly in the 30's; overnight lows at Number One Reservoir during the wintertime commonly fall into the 10's.

Stairway Lake
 | 12 miles away Not to differ from the obscure description given on the site, but Stairway Lake, or the Landingville Dam isn't quite the picture painted by that description. Well...Blue Marsh Ski is a cool half-hour away, you can about jump across Mahannon Creek, Mountain Springs is on the other side of the...mountain. But for real, the Landingville Dam is a decent place for water skiing and bass fishing. It is a superb location for crappie fishing and bird watching. The spillway is a great place for pickerel fishing and the emptying Schuylkill River is a wonderful run on a kayak or canoe. Take 'natural area' and 'desilting basin' with a grain of salt, as this dam is both. Natural enough to see a bald eagle, yet enough of a basin to see hundreds of plastic bottles strewn on the shores. Reasons to come to Landingille: carp, jet skis, foilage, isolation. Reasons not to: total lack of civilization, middle of nowhere, water pollution, isolation.... |
