Near Number Five Reservoir you locate the Northkill Path which is a brilliant hiking trail, and Locust Mountain is striking and can be seen from here. If you need a place to stay Econo Lodge Frackville is a fine choice, and you can run the rapids of Black Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Rodeway Inn Frackville is a brilliant place to get some rest, and Number Five Reservoir is good enough to spend more than a day at, Christmas Pines Camp Ground is a good local

You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors exciting things the area close to Number Five Reservoir has to offer. If the weather is delightful here at Number Five Reservoir, you can go for a hike along the Yellick Path; Kehley Run Dam Number Six is a spot that is near Number Five Reservoir. | |

There's whitewater on Nescopeck Creek for all you adrenaline people; lakes are such calm places, why not check out Number Six Reservoir. The Sand Spring Trail is a magnificent hiking trail near Number Five Reservoir; you're sure to
encounter some great folks from Pottsville here. The summits of the Locust Mountain add much beauty to the vicinity around Number Five Reservoir; why not a little side spree to Kehly Run. From a rainfall point of view Number Five
Reservoir is a reasonably normal spot; the month with most of the rain is June; February is when it's the driest. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Number Five Reservoir, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold
days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Number Five Reservoir temperatures sink to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Number Five Reservoir that
you need to camp here for a while, Red Ridge Lake Campground is a glorious location for that, and a gorgeous lake like Number Four Reservoir is a pleasant location to take a look at.

Stairway Lake
 | 13 miles away Not to differ from the obscure description given on the site, but Stairway Lake, or the Landingville Dam isn't quite the picture painted by that description. Well...Blue Marsh Ski is a cool half-hour away, you can about jump across Mahannon Creek, Mountain Springs is on the other side of the...mountain. But for real, the Landingville Dam is a decent place for water skiing and bass fishing. It is a superb location for crappie fishing and bird watching. The spillway is a great place for pickerel fishing and the emptying Schuylkill River is a wonderful run on a kayak or canoe. Take 'natural area' and 'desilting basin' with a grain of salt, as this dam is both. Natural enough to see a bald eagle, yet enough of a basin to see hundreds of plastic bottles strewn on the shores. Reasons to come to Landingille: carp, jet skis, foilage, isolation. Reasons not to: total lack of civilization, middle of nowhere, water pollution, isolation.... |

J&D Campground
 | 19 miles away We loved this campground. It was clean and neat and many nice people. We are already planning to go back next year. It is so close to Knoebles too....A group of us have been going to J&D for 18 to 20 years. Over this time period they have made many improvements to the campground. Being just down the road from Knobles Amusement Park makes it a better location than the Knobles Camp Ground. J&D site are larger, cleaner and they maintain the sites. Kurt Jones takes special pride in his grass, so don't think about parking on it or setting up a tent. A few years ago he added sewer hook-ups and this has added to the appeal of the campground. The ratings in the camping books appear to be lower than my ratings would be. Usually it is just the opposite. The pool is old and a little small for the size of the campground. But we go back every year and always enjoy the stay.... |
