Mountain Lake is always a pleasure to visit. The sight of striking Kittatinny Mountain near Mountain Lake is great, and if you get bored of Mountain Lake you could also stop at close by Cowans Gap Lake. Mountain Lake is right by the Little Mountain Trail; Cedar Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Thomas Trail, and if you need a site to stay Chambersburg Travelodge is a wonderful choice.

| | Get your pulse rate up on the pleasant whitewater of Sideling Hill Creek. Any time is a great time at Mountain Lake if you adore the outdoors. Here at Mountain Lake there are plenty of people from Chambersburg; a splendid spot to camp here at Mountain Lake is Burnt Cabins Grist Mill Ye Olde Mill Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Mountain Lake Cabins while you're here at Mountain Lake, and the Kittatinny Mountain towers over Mountain Lake. | |

From a rainfall point of view Mountain Lake is a quite normal place; June is the month that gets the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. Dry warm beds await you at Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Carlisle,
PA, and the scenery at W H Walker is beautiful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Licking Creek, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Mountain Lake; Mackey Trail is a great local trail.
Summertime highs at Mountain Lake generally tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's generally in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Mountain Lake.

Gunter Valley Reservoir
 | 11 miles away ...It terminates on North Reservoir Trail (left) or Gunter Valley Road (right). Following North Reservoir Trail, intersect with Creedon Trail which currently is an out and back to the upper, shallow reaches of the reservoir. Continuing on North Reservoir, cross bridge over Trout Run and follow past the intersection of Turnpike Trail and eventually along a nice waterside trail (with some wet areas(seasonal) and rocky sections back to the dam breast. If you decide to take Turnpike Trail, expect steep climbs to the powerline over the PA turnpike Kittatinny Tunnel is under your feet. At the powerline, looking east, the back side of the Blue Mountain with the powerline cut above the Blue Mt tunnel of the turnpike is visible. Turnpike Trail turns left and climbs the powerline(note the bear chewings on the poles) to intersect with old logging road (Montgomery Trail). Turn left onto Montgomery and enjoy a mostly downhill walk, eventually turning left off the last log yard road before a private tract, down the rock steps, through a cool forest to a sometimes tricky wade across Trout Run followi... |
