Little Conemaugh River
There is a dangerous section when the elevation drops, and the river turns wicked.  This is the ECHO/PARKHILL section of the river.  When you see a huge green bridge, you are coming near to the drop.  Be careful of the hydraulics, this is a dangerous section, but can be navigated with some foresight. ...Very dangerous river. Not recommended for beginners....Ran this river for the first time today thinking it would be a gentle paddle. WARNING. It is NOT class II. There are many boulders and ledges. Swift current in high water. Hazardous thirty-foot waterfall right after a sharp bend to the left...with no warning. I banged my kayak up really bad taking the fall and nearly died. BE CAUTIOUS....

Conemaugh River
I live on the Conemaugh and have been canoeing and kayaking here for about 4 years now.  It is mostly a calm river but there are a few portions that can test you. The river is pretty much manageable at any time of year but take caution after rains because it can turn into a raging torrent in just a little while.  Also if you are into fishing their are many good spot all along the river. Bass, trout, carp, perch, Muskie and even pike can all be caught if you talk to any of the locals they will probably lead you in the right direction.  A final note, if you are looking for a place to launch/pull out don't be afraid to talk to a local land owner and ask for permission. Most will say yes or else help you find a good place to go....
