White Deer Creek is a delightful whitewater spot close to Lake McClure, and going for a hike on the Bear Gap Trail is always a brilliant adventure. Stay the night at Hidden Valley Camping Resort. A tremendous nearby hotel is Forest House Hotel, and there are splendid sites to explore along the Grosses Gap Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Lake McClure has       to offer, you can camp at Nittany Mountain Campground; nearby you find the Buffalo Mountain Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. Throughout the summertime highs here at Lake McClure reach the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lake McClure are in the 10's. Lake McClure gets a good deal of water; all through                  the month of June you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is January.
