Don't leave Maple Lake without first going for a hike along the High Rock Spur; since you're here, you could go to Blackwater Run. This lake is so wonderful. Man, is there lots of enjoyable things to do in close proximity to Maple Lake. Good hiking is available along the Scar Run Trail, and a tremendous site for whitewater paddling is Loyalsock Creek. The amount       of precipitation that falls at Maple Lake is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is frequently June, that's the one that rains the most; January on the other hand is the driest. During the months of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Maple Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Maple Lake. Not far from Maple Lake you obtain some glorious                  water scenery at Maple Lake Dam; if you came for an overnight stay Buttermilk Falls Campground is a delightful spot to camp. A perfect nearby hotel is Comfort Inn Towanda; if you're visiting from Sayre, you won't be the only one. There are wonderful spots to explore along the World End Trail, and Pioneer Campground is a nice campground nearby.
