Nescopeck Creek is a great whitewater spot close to Mahanoy Township Reservoirs, and Mahanoy Township Reservoirs is right by the Sand Spring Trail. Skiing at Blue Marsh is one of those things you just must do, and hiking along the
Creek Trail is delightful fun. This lake is so wonderful. There's some exciting stuff to spot at Mahanoy Township Dam Number Two in the neighborhood of Mahanoy Township Reservoirs, and a quick spree to Davis Run is absolutely a fine idea. This is no spot for people who don’t like to have fun.

Stairway Lake
 | 12 miles away Not to differ from the obscure description given on the site, but Stairway Lake, or the Landingville Dam isn't quite the picture painted by that description. Well...Blue Marsh Ski is a cool half-hour away, you can about jump across Mahannon Creek, Mountain Springs is on the other side of the...mountain. But for real, the Landingville Dam is a decent place for water skiing and bass fishing. It is a superb location for crappie fishing and bird watching. The spillway is a great place for pickerel fishing and the emptying Schuylkill River is a wonderful run on a kayak or canoe. Take 'natural area' and 'desilting basin' with a grain of salt, as this dam is both. Natural enough to see a bald eagle, yet enough of a basin to see hundreds of plastic bottles strewn on the shores. Reasons to come to Landingille: carp, jet skis, foilage, isolation. Reasons not to: total lack of civilization, middle of nowhere, water pollution, isolation.... |
