Lower Dam is a great site to visit for more than one day, Christmas Pines Camp Ground is a great site to camp nearby; if you've had enough of Lower Dam, Stairway Lake is close by. This lake is so wonderful. A good close by hotel is Days Inn Pottsville; the Sand Spring Trail offers hiking at its best. Lower Dam is right by the Creek Trail, and why not head up to Blue Marsh and strap some skis       to your feet. You're sure to bump into some cheerful folks from Pottsville here, and you can stay the night at Appalachian Campsites. A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Lower Dam; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. There are some good whitewater spots on Nescopeck Creek; there's glorious hiking along the Yellick Path. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Ramada Pottsville is a                  delightful location to spend a night or two; get yourself into a kayak and hit Black Creek. Lower Dam is not the only spot close by, Orwigsburg Reservoir is a close by lake. High temperatures at Lower Dam during the days of summer are in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs all through the wintertime are typically in the 30's while Lower Dam overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors cool things the area close to Lower Dam has to offer.
