Shohola Creek
 | Raft??? First off, I cant see raft going through box canyon. It might be possible, but I wouldn't want to see someone I care about be the first. After the box, downstream of the route 6 bridge, you would need a lot of rain, I mean an awful lot of rain to get through the flat water section. Personally, I do some tough runs (CL4+) and I'm not sure I'd wanna be there with that much water. With plenty of water, medium level, we were scraping a lot in the flat water section. Also, in the canyon, if someone gets hurt, they are in for a bad day. This is evident by looking at a typo map or looking down from route three bridge. ''outside the state you might find the rivers here are more forgiving''. My travel for White Water is limited: NY, NJ, MA, CT, WV, MD, VT, NC. Never been out west. With my limited experience the above states and PA and 5 years kayaking including winter, I have no clue what the above quote means. Ratings CL1-5 (6 being a rating meaning it might not be runable), while far from perfect is a pretty good indication of water difficulty. Don't paddle here unless you know wha... |
