In Pennsylvania there are many beautiful lakes, Lake Chillisquauqe is one of them. Summer at Lake Chillisquauqe comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lake Chillisquauqe are in the 10's. From a rainfall point of view Lake Chillisquauqe is a quite typical location; during June this area sees the most rain,
and the driest month is January. This lake is so wonderful. Chillisquaque Dam is an interesting thing to check out, and do take a look at Muncy Reservoir, it's a lovely lake.
This site rocks, just explore all the enjoyable things to do next to Lake Chillisquauqe. Valley View Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and if you came to camp Shady Rest Camp Grounds is a good place to do that. Go for a hike on the Springhill Trail, and after a long day outdoors

Danville-Days Inn Conference Center is a good place to spend a night or two.
This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Lake Chillisquauqe without first going for a hike along the Miller Trail. There's so much to do here at Lake Chillisquauqe that you need to camp here for a while, Hemlock Valley Campground is a great site for that. There's pleasant hiking along the Grandad Trail, and Liberty Valley Country Club is a wonderful golf course nearby. Some nearby water includes East Branch Chillisquaque Creek; a great close by hotel is Quality Inn & Suites.
While you're here at Lake Chillisquauqe you must go to Goose Cove, and if you're visiting from Sunbury, you won't be the only one.

Fantasy Island Campground
14 miles away
We really enjoyed our stay at Fantasy Island Campground. It is a beautiful campground on the Susquehanna river. There are hiking and biking trails at the state park next door. The campground itself is kept clean and the people are friendly. I will definately return....

Hunters Lake
14 miles away
We hiked around Hunters Lake in November.  It was a rainy weekend and some of the trail was very wet but it was a flat, easy hike and the soggy ground was not hazardous.  Parking is on the opposite side of Brunnerdale from the lake.  Follow the gold blazes to hike around the lake.  They begin on your left after crossing the dam. The last mile of the hike is actually on Brunnerdale Road.  Not sure why the trail doesn't continue lakeside.  Good family outing....

Knoebels Resort and Campground
14 miles away
... ft. travel trailer, than our 30 ft. travel trailer and now our motorhome. The campground and the amusement park are nice and clean. I have a golden retriever and she gets a charge out of walking through the amusement park with us. We have been camping for many years and I have to say that usually I don't care for campground bathrooms but Knoebels keeps theirs very clean. While it's a pain sometimes because there is no sewer or water hookup, we always have a great time there. My daughter who is now 13 started going on roller coasters there when she was 9 and now we can't keep her off of coasters where ever we go. I also like the fact that we can walk back and forth to our site. Sometimes when we go to amusement parks I really don't feel like going on the rides, but I do because I had to pay to get in. At Knoebels you either buy tickets and go on the rides you want or sometimes they have a handstamp. If you don't want to go on rides, you can still walk around and enjoy the park without having to pay. I also like the fact that it is geared towards families. In the amusement park you ca...

J&D Campground
15 miles away
We loved this campground. It was clean and neat and many nice people. We are already planning to go back next year. It is so close to Knoebles too....A group of us have been going to J&D for 18 to 20 years. Over this time period they have made many improvements to the campground. Being just down the road from Knobles Amusement Park makes it a better location than the Knobles Camp Ground. J&D site are larger, cleaner and they maintain the sites. Kurt Jones takes special pride in his grass, so don't think about parking on it or setting up a tent. A few years ago he added sewer hook-ups and this has added to the appeal of the campground. The ratings in the camping books appear to be lower than my ratings would be. Usually it is just the opposite. The pool is old and a little small for the size of the campground. But we go back every year and always enjoy the stay....
