Michael J. Kachurak: Where can I obtain daily water conditions, i. e. , water turbidity, debris conditions, water level, etc. For Lake Aldred.
This summer's frequent storms have muddied local feeder streams to the extent that they are almost unfishable.
Lake Aldred is a favorite smallmouth and walleye fishery since my return to PA ten years ago. This summer has been a real bummer on the river.

Muddy Creek - Susquehanna Tributary
 | 1 PHOTO ...gital cam my girlfriend got me. So we decide to take a vow whatever we come to we are taking/ or we are going around fast. this 5 mile trip turned into 6 hours and we still had two more bends to go. we didn't have a map, but I was using my Verizon gps the whole way. We hit two systems, one pretty good, half was scary, and one mild and actually a relieve. Then we saw the most beautiful sight ever high tension power lines. Then a pontoon boat. I never thought an old moldy pontoon boat would look so glorious. We made it, but we still had to paddle back to the park. Now this is when it sorta sucks after you are so wore out. You have to go out about a mile but the creek keeps you at a pretty good pace. We drift fished the whole way to the mouth. Didn't even get a nibble. Then you have another mile along the shore line to get to the parking lot. Jeez I should have left my trolling motor at the mouth of the creek.
We got back and celebrated. We can't wait to get white water kayaks and go down some real 1 & 2 to learn what I am doing. Then I am going back to conquer everything I had ... |
Broad Creek Memorial Camp Reservoir
 | I have great memories of working there as a counselor in 1965 before being drafted in the Army. I taught life saving and rowing. I would love to hear from Magness or Donoho if they are still in the area.... |
Deer Creek
 | There are many put in and take out spots along the creek. A nice paddle is Eden Mill park down to Rocks state park. Put in by parking at Eden Mill Nature Center off of Gwan Grove rd. Take out at the parking area under the king and queen seats off 24 in rocks (by old consesion stand. Do not paddle further unless you are an accomplished paddler due to the immediate section after the take out. It is a fall line creaed shoot that drops about 35 feet over 100 yards and narrows to 1/3 original wifth. Not difficult but intimidating and surprising if not ready and has a potential pin spot below biggest drop.... |
