There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Lehigh River, and Camelback is a good local ski area. The high level of rainfall makes Lake Akiba a rather wet spot; most of the rain falls during May while February is generally the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is one of the destinations next to Lake Akiba that are splendid to go       to, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Indian Trail. A great spot to camp here at Lake Akiba is Chestnut Lake Campground; if you're popping by from East Stroudsburg, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Camelback Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity, naturally you could also check out Grubers Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Looking for something right next                  door to Lake Akiba? Mountain Spring Lake is nearby, also Camp Akiba Dam is worth taking a look at since you're here. You assume that's enough? Just getting warmed up. A fine close by hotel is Chateau Resort at Camelback. After a long day outdoors Tannersville Days Inn is a fine location to spend a night or two, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Pocono Creek. Lake Akiba is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Silver Valley Campsites is a brilliant local campground, and do stop by Fall Creek while you're here at Lake Akiba. The slopes of Alpine Mountain are so inviting nobody can resist, and on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Lakeside Trail. At Lake Akiba throughout the warm months highs are in the 70's, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, mostly in the 50's.
