Getting to Cold Run from Lake John is easy, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Kitchen Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Lake John Dam is worth stopping at if you're here; if the weather is pleasant, you can go for a hike along the Pole Bridge Trail. Through the summer at Lake John temperatures are commonly       in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. During the wintertime highs are generally in the 30's with temperatures at Lake John dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. Lake John is a good location of common rainfall; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. You imagine that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. There's whitewater                  on Loyalsock Creek for all you adrenaline people, and there are other places here than Lake John, for example Lake John. Why not camp at Red Rock Mountain Campground while you're here at Lake John, and you can have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Old Bulldozer Road Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Good's Campground is a splendid place to camp, and going for a hike along the Irish Settlement Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity.
