    It's always fun to stop by John C Smith Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. Bedford Elks Lodge 1707 Golf Course is a magnificent golf course close by, and whitewater paddling is pleasant on Town Creek. Lakes are such serene spots, why not pop by Todd Spring Reservoir in close proximity to John C Smith Reservoir, and Bobs Creek has a great whitewater paddling spot close by. Good hiking is available along the Cabin Trail; after a long day outdoors Best Western  
   Bedford Inn is a wonderful place to spend a night or two.

John C Smith Reservoir is a good place to visit for more than one day, Bethel Park Campgrounds is a good place to camp nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Garlick Trail.
There are other sites here than John C Smith Reservoir, for example Smith Reservoir, and Friendship Village is a great campground nearby. If you're here at John C Smith Reservoir, you could check out Cumberland Valley Run, and going for a hike on the Reservoir Trail is always a great adventure.

As a Wigfield it amused me that there is a trail out there with my name on it ;-). Since this is too far from where I live I believe once the weather get nicer I'll have to go hike it. Drive a another mile until you cross the rail tracks and make a quick left down a dirt rd that follows the rail track. Follow 200yrd until you reach the train observation deck and park here. Cross the tracks and look at the wounderful 3 shelf drop. If you would like to run it, head right down throught trail above fall. Start river right and work to left as you exit last shelf. watch the nice keeper and the bottem left at very high water....
Water between fairhope and hyndman is full of bolders and water depths drop a lot in summer months. i advice that rafting should be done in the spring....
