Hiking along the Root Trail is nice fun; Ski Sawmill is a great local ski area. Some close by water includes Bear Creek. Whitewater paddling is good on Tioga River, and you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Pig Hill Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Babb Creek is so much fun. There's so much to do here at Hammond Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Bucktail Camping Resort is a great place for that. From a rainfall point of view Hammond Lake is a pretty typical location; most of the rain falls through June; January is when it's the driest.
