Yellow Creek has a tremendous whitewater paddling spot close by, and Altoona Super 8 Motel is a good location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the       Sheep Rock Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood, and in the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Great Trough Creek. Ganister Blue Hole is a good spot of normal precipitation; the wettest month of the year is typically June, that's the one that rains the most, and January is when it's the driest. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Blue Knob; why not explore                  nearby Piney Creek while you're here at Ganister Blue Hole. Have a good hiking adventure along the Rainbow Trail; from Ganister Blue Hole you get a glorious vista of Short Mountain. This lake is so wonderful.
