Stairway Lake
| 11 miles away Not to differ from the obscure description given on the site, but Stairway Lake, or the Landingville Dam isn't quite the picture painted by that description. Well...Blue Marsh Ski is a cool half-hour away, you can about jump across Mahannon Creek, Mountain Springs is on the other side of the...mountain. But for real, the Landingville Dam is a decent place for water skiing and bass fishing. It is a superb location for crappie fishing and bird watching. The spillway is a great place for pickerel fishing and the emptying Schuylkill River is a wonderful run on a kayak or canoe. Take 'natural area' and 'desilting basin' with a grain of salt, as this dam is both. Natural enough to see a bald eagle, yet enough of a basin to see hundreds of plastic bottles strewn on the shores. Reasons to come to Landingille: carp, jet skis, foilage, isolation. Reasons not to: total lack of civilization, middle of nowhere, water pollution, isolation.... |

Red Run Campground

Some of the campsites are located beside a creek or an unused Covered Bridge. There are tent spaces available on wooded sites. There is fishing in the creek, with a license. There is also catch & release fishing in our 4 1/2 acre lake with out a license. If the morning you can watch the sunrise over the lake and listen to the sounds of the farm animals starting a new day. On any day you can watch the horse and buggy's travel up and down the back roads around the campground. There is a game room with electronic games. On Saturday's there are crafts and board games for children, in the lodge. On sunny Saturday afternoons there is a wagon ride for children around the campground. When using a GPS please use the Lat / Long coordinates.... |
