A visit to Forest Lake is always a good idea. The high level of rainfall makes Forest Lake a relatively wet place; most of the rain falls during August while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Lackawaxen River, and the White Deer Trail offers hiking at its best. And that's not all you can do here at Forest Lake. Hit the slopes at Ski

Shohola Creek
 | Raft??? First off, I cant see raft going through box canyon. It might be possible, but I wouldn't want to see someone I care about be the first. After the box, downstream of the route 6 bridge, you would need a lot of rain, I mean an awful lot of rain to get through the flat water section. Personally, I do some tough runs (CL4+) and I'm not sure I'd wanna be there with that much water. With plenty of water, medium level, we were scraping a lot in the flat water section. Also, in the canyon, if someone gets hurt, they are in for a bad day. This is evident by looking at a typo map or looking down from route three bridge. ''outside the state you might find the rivers here are more forgiving''. My travel for White Water is limited: NY, NJ, MA, CT, WV, MD, VT, NC. Never been out west. With my limited experience the above states and PA and 5 years kayaking including winter, I have no clue what the above quote means. Ratings CL1-5 (6 being a rating meaning it might not be runable), while far from perfect is a pretty good indication of water difficulty. Don't paddle here unless you know wha... |

Wilsonville Recreation Area
 | Wilsonville is fun and enjoyable for you and your family. You can camp, boat, or fish. Everything is well maintained and enjoyable. Wilsonville has been enjoyable for the past five years that I 've been going there. I look to have another great year at Wilsonville again this year!...I found Wilsonville to be a nice family campground. The facilities are well maintained, and they offer both wooded and camper sights. They even have some walk-in sights near the lake. One of the best points is that they have launches and docks for boating on beautiful Lake Wallenpaupack. We have gone for the past 2 years and plan on doing so again this year.... |
