Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Montour Run, and there are plenty of folks from Pittsburgh here. Summertime highs at Dashields Pool regularly tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's with temperatures at Dashields Pool dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. Why not camp at Pittsburgh North Camp Ground if you're here at Dashields Pool, and Big Sewickley Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth going to.

Airport is a perfect place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. You could also go to Sechlers Lake while you're here at Dashields Pool; it's close by, and enjoy a round of golf at Montour Heights Country Club. Dashields
Pool gets a typical amount of yearly rainfall; June is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Looking for something in close proximity to Dashields Pool? Emsworth Pool is nearby, and Pittsburgh North Campground is a nice local campground. This lake is so wonderful.

For those that enjoyed the stretch above Hamony Junction, PA, the removal of the dam at that location has caused the stream to lose a lot of it's recreational value. The creek in the section extending above Harmony can no longer support canoes - the Wild Waterway Conservancy's (the dam removal owner) intent to put in a canoe boat launch is laughable since there is limited water that is now available for canoeing....Hi, an update on this trip... the take-out listed seems to be the old hydro plant in Ellwood City. The trail is very overgrown and the road is another three hundred or so yards carry uphill to the road. The better trip is to continue down the Connie to just under the new bridge (5th street) and take out at the old water treatment plant. You can park close to the water (ask first) on the access road and if you park the shuttle vehicle right can see it from the water. This would add only a few more minutes to the trip. There is a new outfitter on the water there too, Keystone Sojourns is opening a shop in Ellport for canoe & kayak rentals and they offer a shuttle service too. Phone # is 724-713-2093.
