Hiking along the Cowans Trail is glorious       fun, and if you come at the right time of year, Licking Creek offers some good whitewater. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Sideling Hill Creek, and a great spot to camp here at Cowans Gap Lake is Mountain Lake Cabins. This lake is so wonderful. Cowans Gap is a delightful site to take a look at close by; do take a hike on the Mile Trail. This lake is so wonderful. For the duration of the summertime months at Cowans Gap Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's.
