Family Campground is a great local campground, and enjoy a round of golf at Rocky Spring Golf Course. Not far from Cedar Lake, you'll find Lake Letterkenny which is a gorgeous lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do
here at Cedar Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Roxbury Holiness Camp is a glorious site for that, and there is a pleasant hiking trail close by called the Smith Trail. You might want to pay a visit to Big Gap if you're here at Cedar Lake; Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Carlisle, PA is a fine place to get some rest.

 | ...ontinuing on North Reservoir, cross bridge over Trout Run and follow past the intersection of Turnpike Trail and eventually along a nice waterside trail (with some wet areas(seasonal) and rocky sections back to the dam breast. If you decide to take Turnpike Trail, expect steep climbs to the powerline over the PA turnpike Kittatinny Tunnel is under your feet. At the powerline, looking east, the back side of the Blue Mountain with the powerline cut above the Blue Mt tunnel of the turnpike is visible. Turnpike Trail turns left and climbs the powerline(note the bear chewings on the poles) to intersect with old logging road (Montgomery Trail). Turn left onto Montgomery and enjoy a mostly downhill walk, eventually turning left off the last log yard road before a private tract, down the rock steps, through a cool forest to a sometimes tricky wade across Trout Run following the trail around the private tract, left onto the logging road, up a small hill to intersect with Gunter Valley Road a half mile or so below the Reservoir. Trails are maintained by volunteers and brush cut at least twice... |
