This is a brilliant area for people who like lakes. Pa-476 Reservoir is a lake in the vicinity; New Kernsville Dam has good water scenery. This lake is so wonderful. Blue Mountain Lake is right by the Pinnacle Trail, and a perfect location for whitewater paddling is Nesquehoning Creek. Blue Rocks Family Campground is a delightful campground nearby, and you're in all probability into lakes, New Kernsville Lake is one of those nearby. Whohoo, so much amusing

You can run the rapids of Lizard Creek close to Blue Mountain Lake, and Perry Golf Course is a brilliant
golf course close by. A splendid nearby hotel is Microtel Inn And Suites Hamburg, and you can stay the night at Mountain Springs Camping Resort. Summertime highs at Blue Mountain Lake frequently tend to be in the 80's. During the
dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. During the winter highs are frequently in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Blue Mountain Lake temperatures dip to the 10's.
A great deal of rain falls at Blue Mountain Lake; the month with most of the rain is May, and February is when it's the driest.

Stairway Lake
 | Not to differ from the obscure description given on the site, but Stairway Lake, or the Landingville Dam isn't quite the picture painted by that description. Well...Blue Marsh Ski is a cool half-hour away, you can about jump across Mahannon Creek, Mountain Springs is on the other side of the...mountain. But for real, the Landingville Dam is a decent place for water skiing and bass fishing. It is a superb location for crappie fishing and bird watching. The spillway is a great place for pickerel fishing and the emptying Schuylkill River is a wonderful run on a kayak or canoe. Take 'natural area' and 'desilting basin' with a grain of salt, as this dam is both. Natural enough to see a bald eagle, yet enough of a basin to see hundreds of plastic bottles strewn on the shores. Reasons to come to Landingille: carp, jet skis, foilage, isolation. Reasons not to: total lack of civilization, middle of nowhere, water pollution, isolation.... |
