Many people like to go to Bigby Run Lake. The slopes of The Springs at Laurel Mountain are so inviting noone can resist, and you'll probably meet some folks from Somerset here. All through the summer months highs here at Bigby Run Lake reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. | | and February is when it's the driest. You can take a little spree to Bigby Run Dam while you're here at Bigby Run Lake, and there is a delightful hiking trail close by called the East End Trail. This lake is so wonderful. next door to Bigby Run Lake. Casselman Gorge is right next door to Bigby Run Lake and is a glorious place; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Casselman River. This lake is so wonderful.
Lakes? Sure, Laurel Falls Lake is nearby, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Spruce Run Trail. Camping is available at Mason Dixon Campground; a round of golf at nearby Piney Run Golf Course is a magnificent way to kill
some time. And if you're still looking for more outdoors cool things just keep reading. There are other sites here than Bigby Run Lake, for example Brenneman Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Somerset,Pa; Hidden Valley
is a good local ski area. There's some flowing water nearby, Bigby Creek is a stream you can take a look at during your stay; nearby you locate the Wolf Rocks Trail which is a perfect hiking trail.

 | 12 miles away definitely a beautiful area! great for those just entering the sport OR for some time to chill. similar in difficulty to middle yough but no duldrums, well, there are just less noticeable because of the beauty and not quite as dull (or long)....markleton to fort hill is an absolutely beautiful section of river. i highly recommend it but i may be biased since i own some property on the river. very remote except near the bridges where you'll find a few houses. other than that, you have the railroad and the recently opened bike trail. a curse and a blessing. ... |
