The slopes of Ski Liberty are so inviting noone can resist, and a perfect spot to camp here at Big Pond is Conewago Campground. Hairy Springs Hollow is a great location to explore, and you can run the rapids of Conewago Creek - West. From a precipitation point of view Big Pond is a rather normal location; the wettest month of the year is usually June, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month       of the year is January. At Big Pond you always meet someone from Gettysburg, and Best Western Shippensburg Hotel is a fine place to get some rest. The warmest time of the year at Big Pond comes with high temperatures in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. Highs throughout the winter are typically in the 30's; night lows in the 20's for Big Pond. Big Pond is right by the Lippencot Trail; Piney Apple Golf Course is a good golf course close by. A great                  place for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Big Pond is Antietam Creek - East Branch, and if you need a place to stay Rodeway Inn Shippensburg is a pleasant choice. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Wildcat Trail, and camping at Pine Grove Furnace State Park is always a great experience.
