Near Big Pond you stumble on fine spots like Hairy Springs Hollow, and Big Pond is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Conewago Campground is a magnificent local campground. The yearly rain here at Big Pond is about average; the wettest month of the year is regularly June, that's the one that rains the most; January is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Pole Bridge Trail       is always a brilliant adventure, and do explore Chambersburg Reservoir, it's a scenic lake. After a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn Shippensburg is a tremendous location to spend a night or two; there's whitewater on Antietam Creek - East Branch for all you adrenaline rush seekers. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Shippensburg Hotel. There's so much to do here at Big Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Pine Grove Furnace                  State Park is a splendid location for that. Go for a hike on the Lippencot Trail, and there are some tremendous whitewater spots on Conewago Creek - West. Through the warm days of summer here at Big Pond, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Big Pond descend into the 20's. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Big Pond. Enjoy a round of golf at Piney Apple Golf Course not far from Big Pond, and the summit of Sliding Rock Mountain can be made out from Big Pond. There are great locations to discover along the Wildcat Trail, and since you're here, you could also explore beautiful Long Pine Run Reservoir. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things at Big Pond.
