If the weather is good here at Big Pond, you can go for a hike along the Sawmill Trail, and glide down the rapids of Town Creek in a kayak. Be careful coming to Big Pond, you might not ever wanna return back home again. A picturesque lake like Lake Koon in the neighborhood of Big Pond is a splendid spot to take a look at; the Carnes Trail is a fine hiking trail close by. You'll need more than a day       to explore everything Big Pond has to offer, you can camp at Rocky Gap State Park, and there is a tremendous hiking trail nearby called the Burnt Mills Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Don't forget to take a delightful little journey to Lost Run; if you come at the right time of year, Flintstone Creek offers some good whitewater. Big Pond is a glorious place to visit for more than one day, Hidden Springs Campground is a glorious place to camp nearby, and                  a good location nearby is Summerville Gap. From a rainfall point of view Big Pond is a relatively common site; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. Throughout the warm months, highs regularly are in the 80's at Big Pond, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Big Pond. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous close by hotel is Bedford Springs Resort.
