Why not stop by Wind Lake if you're passing through these parts. This site, the Central Cascade Range, has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. Whohoo, so much enjoyable stuff in one place! Wind Lake is unbeatable! Mount Hood Inn is a good site to get some rest, and magnificent skiing awaits you at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl. Summertime highs at Wind Lake commonly tend to be in the 70's. | | highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Wind Lake temperatures fall to the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such peaceful places, why not check out Mirror Lake in close proximity to Wind Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Mirror Lake Trail. is a peak you can distinguish from Wind Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Zigzag River offers some nice whitewater. A fine place to go to close to Wind Lake is Little Zigzag Canyon; don't leave Wind Lake without
first going for a hike along the Wind Creek Trail. The high level of rain makes Wind Lake a reasonably wet site; December is when you get the most rain here, and July is when it's the driest. You'll truly wish for more hours in a
day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Central Cascade Range. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Wind Lake has to offer, you can camp at Twin Bridges Campground, and do set aside some time for Wind Creek Basin
while you're here at Wind Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Whispering Woods (Vri); Yocum Falls is a pleasant local attraction. Wind Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Barlow Campground
is a great place to camp nearby, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Sandy River. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Central Cascade Range. Good hiking is available along the Tom Dick Trail, and Timberline Lodge
has magnificent slopes and a friendly staff. Wind Lake is not far at all from Hood River; you'll stumble on a gorgeous lake called Trillium Lake.
