Beautiful Williams Lake has much to offer visitors. You absolutely have to go for the Central Cascade Range. Howard Johnson Gresham is a good place to get some rest, and Williams Lake is right by the East Mountain Trail. Man, is there plenty of exciting things to do in the Central Cascade Range. Paddling on Clackamas River - South Fork is so much fun, and most likely you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Clear Lake is just a very short distance away. Williams

| | Lake is a beautiful lake in the Central Cascade Range. Williams Lake mostly gets a great deal of rain; December is when you get the most rain here while July is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. There's great hiking along the High Camp Trail. Timothy Patch is a good site, and get wet paddling on Clackamas River. All through the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Williams Lake with overnight lows in the 50's. During | |

the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Williams Lake temperatures fall to the 30's. At Williams Lake you can see Goat Mountain; needless to say, this is a magnificent vicinity
for folks who like lakes, Memaloose Lake is a lake in close proximity. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Williams Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Silver Fox RV Park is a pleasant local campground;
the South Fork Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. A great close by hotel is Best Western Sandy Inn; a tremendous spot to camp here at Williams Lake is Northwest Land Management.

 | ...d narrows and now effectively ends. Actually, it continues, but the road is impeded by a gate sporting many 'no trespassing' signs and marking it 'private property'. When we got to this point, we were just about to turn around and go home when another car drove past us onto the road. Having driven for several hours to get there, we dared to venture further, and followed the car despite the many warnings on the gate. Now, if you are reading this please heed my advice... never do what we did. Do not try to find this trail. Listen to signs. They are usually there for a reason. We could not locate the next road to turn on because all the old street signs had been removed and all of the old turn-offs warned away the unauthorized with huge boulders blocking the road, locked gates and more no-trespassing signs. After taking some pictures of beautifully dilapidated country houses, we decided to call it a day and return home empty handed. However, when we got to the gate we came in through, we found that while we were away, someone had closed and locked it. We were trapped, and not the least ... |
