     All through the warm days of summer at Whetstone Pond highs are commonly in the 80's while overnight lows are generally in the 40's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 40's with temperatures at Whetstone Pond dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Good hiking is available along the Mount Ashland Trail, and Emigrant Lake is a magnificent campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing at Mt. Ashland is one of those things you just  
   have to do, and if you come at the right time of year, Big Butte Creek offers some great whitewater.
Hiking is a popular thing to do around Whetstone Pond; Alco Trail is a tremendous local trail; a golf course close by is Cedar Links Golf Club. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! Whetstone Pond is peerless! After a long day outdoors Courtyard Medford Airport is a brilliant location to spend a night or two; get yourself into a kayak and hit Rogue
 
               River. And if that's not enough there's plenty more exciting stuff to do in the Siskiyou Mountains. La Quinta Inn and Suites White City is a nice place to get some rest; if you get bored of Whetstone Pond you could also check out close by Military Slough Reservoirs.
Now, you may feel that's loads but there's even more exciting things to do here in the Siskiyou Mountains. A lake close by is Cable Reservoir; you can go for a hike on the Chicago Trail. Whetstone Pond gets a typical amount of precipitation; December is the wettest month with most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you're here at Whetstone Pond, you could pop by Little Butte Creek.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Siskiyou Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Whetstone Pond is a magnificent place to visit for more than one day, Jackson County Parks and Rec is a magnificent place to camp nearby, and since you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Medford.

If you can ski Mt. Ashland, you can ski anywhere, is a boast locals in southern Oregon have made for 45 years. It is true; Mt. Ashland offers plenty of adventure for both skiers and riders. The ski area is located about a half an hour drive from the charming town of Ashland, home to the world renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. At 7,500 feet, Mt. Ashland is the highest point in the Siskiyou mountain range. Its north facing slopes collect an average 300 inches of snowfall annually. The ski area offers 23 trails in addition to chute skiing and boarding in its famous bowl. All trails are easily accessed by 4 chairlifts. Twilight skiing on 10 runs is scheduled Thursday through Friday evenings beginning in late-December. The mountain prides itself on a warm and friendly atmosphere.
