What a nice lake West Lake is. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Welcome Lakes Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and let's not forget Battle Creek which is a stream that you may encounter while you're here. All the water falling down from the sky makes West Lake a wet place; most of the rain falls during December while July is typically the driest month. Be careful coming to the Central Cascade Range, you might not

High temperatures at West Lake during the warm days of summer are in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at West Lake dipping down into the 30's through winter nights. This lake is located in the wonderful Central Cascade Range. | |

Big Slide Mountain is clearly visible from West Lake, and the Mother Lode Trail is a fine hiking trail nearby. Camping is available at B and B Rentals; a pleasant nearby hotel is Whispering Woods (Vri). This lake is so wonderful.
That right there is a load of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Central Cascade Range has it all. While you're here at West Lake, you could also stop at pretty Big Slide Lake; if the weather is delightful, you can go for
a hike along the Elk Lake Trail. Be careful coming to West Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. Camping at Skookum Lake Campground is always a delightful experience, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Collawash River.

 | The French Creek Trail has been bypassed by logging roads at lower elevations. The trail now starts at about 4000 ft. on the way to Byar's Peak. There are some boulders on the road, one in particular had barely enough room to get by. Great views of Detroit area and Three Sisters from the ridge.... |
