If you like lakes and you're in this part of Oregon you can check out Waller Reservoir 2. Waller Reservoir 2 gets very little rainfall; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest month is July. A wonderful close by hotel is Stampede Inn, and if you came for an overnight stay Wallowa Valley Stay and wash is a good site to camp. What a place this is for outdoors people. There are great locations to discover along the Cougar Ridge Trail, and get your heart pumping on the brilliant whitewater of Grande Ronde River. Spout Springs is a very popular ski area nearby. Go for a hike on the Rock Spring Trail, and Mingo Motel is a great site to get some rest.
Don't leave Waller Reservoir 2 without first going for a hike along the Crooked Trail,
and a splendid place to explore is Minam Summit. This lake is so wonderful. From Waller Reservoir 2 you acquire a glorious panorama of Minam Hill, and Bear Canyon Campground is a good campground here.
Waller Reservoir 2 is not
the only place nearby, Waller Reservoir 3 is a nearby lake, and a delightful place for whitewater paddling is Grande Ronde River.
