Why not stop by Twin Lakes if you're passing through these parts. Twin Lakes is located in the Central Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. From Twin Lakes you get a wonderful vista of Shukash Butte; paddling on Deschutes River is so much fun. And that's not all you can do here in the Central Cascade Range. Lakes are such serene places, why not visit South Twin Lake close to Twin Lakes, and if you need a spot to stay Sunriver Resort is a pleasant choice.

The high level of precipitation makes Twin Lakes a reasonably wet site; the month with most of the rain is December; the driest of the months is July. Man, is there heaps of amusing stuff to do close to Twin Lakes. Hit the slopes at Willamette Pass nearby, and going for a hike on the Cultus Lake Trail is always a delightful adventure. Don't leave Twin Lakes without first going for a hike along the Lucky Lake Trail, and there's no such thing as a bad day of
skiing at close by Mt. Bachelor.
There's so much to do here at Twin Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, North Wickiup Campground is a delightful place for that. Throughout the warm months here at Twin Lakes, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's, and the nighttime is a tad chillier of course, mostly in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; overnight lows in the 20's for Twin Lakes. So much amusing stuff in the Central Cascade Range, just incredible. Get covered with water paddling on Deschutes River; of course Browns Creek flows through this vicinity.
After a long day outdoors Best Western Newberry Station is a glorious site to spend a night or two, and there are pleasant locations to look at along the Corral Swamp Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Twin Lakes is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Round Swamp Campground is a magnificent local campground, and there are other places here than Twin Lakes, for example North Twin Lake.

Davis Lake
This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year....

Winopee Lake
12 miles away
Went to Winopee lake this weekend...it was a little dissapointing because the lake is about 45% covered with reeds and lilly pads. The Eastern shore is the only one you can accesst the water without having to wade through reeds. There is quite a few algae blooms so swimming isn't an option. Overall, the view was nice but not spectacular. There are three decent campsites at the lake, popular with horse camps. The best of the three sites is the one on the Eastern bank, take the first trail you come accross before reaching the junction for sno-shoe lake. The second and third campsites are on the West bank and are a little harder to find...head for the clifs and you are there....
