In Oregon there are many beautiful lakes, Thrush Pond is one of them. Thrush Pond is a wet place that gets a great deal of rain; during the month of December you get the most rain around here, and July on the other hand is the driest. So much cool stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range, not enough time. If you're visiting Thrush Pond from Hood River, you won't be the only one, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Beacon Rock Golf Course is
close by. Going for a hike on the Eagle Tanner Trail is always a fine adventure, and at Thrush Pond you can see Eagle Butte.
Thrush Pond is one of the lakes here in the Central Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Tanner Cutoff Trail, and a short spree to Big Cedar Springs is always worthwhile. During the months of summer, highs regularly are in the 70's at Thrush Pond. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's commonly in

the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Thrush Pond.
That right there is a heap already, but it keeps on going; Thrush Pond has it all. Stay the night at Bridge Of The Gods Motel and RV, and if you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Zigzag River. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Dublin Lake is close to Thrush Pond, and if you need a place to stay Bonneville Hot Springs Resort is a wonderful choice. Hit the slopes at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl in close proximity, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Columbia River Inn.
This is a wonderful area for people who like lakes. Blue Lake is a lake in the neighborhood. There's so much to do here at Thrush Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Fishery is a magnificent location for that. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Timberline Lodge. This location, the Central Cascade Range, has so much outdoors enjoyable things. Sandy River is a glorious whitewater spot in the neighborhood of Thrush Pond, and there are good spots to explore along the Tanner Butte Trail.

Little Ashes Lake
Since the previous post was negative, I was skeptical about fishing there. I sent a couple of hours fishing there at one of the few access spots to see how it fished. I was fortunate enough to land a trout about 27 inches long. Not to bad for a couple hours. Caught using a rooster tail spinner. Gotta give it a try....Little Ashes lake is a medium sized spillway from the Columbia River. There is not much public access to the lake. The lake is boundaried on the southwest side by Highway 14. and all the rest is Private property. No way to launch a boat, but I have float tubed it. There are no trails to hike around this lake. You won't want to swim in it since it is columbia river water. The fishing is unproductive as i fished it and never caught a single bass or trout, only sucker fish and perch. My advice is to just enjoy the sight of this lake, but venturing into it is a waste of time....

It's nice....

Herman Creek Trail
The Herman Creek Trail was constructed for foot access to the old site of a wartime lookout built to spot ballon bomb sent over by Japan. There were three cabins just past the cliff road and the end of the Herman Creek cut-off trail which statrted at seven and a half mile camp in what was once Cedder Swamp just below Mud Lake....

Bighorn Campground

Have you been to the Bighorn campground site???While this is a beautiful pack-in, primitive site, it doesn't fit with your description. Before camping, take a hike on Nat. Forest Trail 742, without gear. After you've scoped the area, come back and stay. Even on Labor Day Weekend ('06) there were several campsites available in this dispersed camp area....
