Hiking along the Horse Creek Trail is glorious fun; a glorious spot to camp here at Thissell Pond is Slide Campground. Thissell Pond is a beautiful lake in the Coast Ranges.

   Pond, you might not ever wanna go home again. Getting to Bear Creek from Thissell Pond is simple; Yaquina Bay Hotel Toledo is a nice place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. There are some great whitewater spots on Alsea River, and if you need a site to stay Toledo Hotel is a pleasant choice. There's whitewater on Alsea River - North Fork for all you adrenaline junkies; since you're here, you might as well have a look at Carns Canyon.

Thissell Pond is a relatively wet place mostly with a lot of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is December; July is when it's the driest. Throughout the warm months here at Thissell Pond, high temperatures usually reach the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's; all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Thissell Pond temperatures drop to the 30's.
