    Go to Thissell Pond if you want to go to a nice lake. Stay the night at Big Elk Campground, and in case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Alsea River. You might want to pay a visit to Carns Canyon if you're here at Thissell Pond, and Fall Creek Falls is always fun to check out. This lake is located in the wonderful Coast Ranges.
All year is a glorious time in the Coast Ranges if you like the outdoors. Whitewater paddling
 
   is great on Alsea River - North Fork; there's some flowing water nearby, Bear Creek is a stream you can visit while here. This lake is so wonderful. Slide Campground is a brilliant campground nearby; you can go for a hike on the Horse Creek Trail. All through the long summer days at Thissell Pond temperatures are generally in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and nighttime lows  
               in the 30's for Thissell Pond.
Thissell Pond sees pretty high levels of rain; the month with most of the rain is December; the driest month is July. You completely should adore Thissell Pond. If you need a place to stay Howard Johnson Inn Waldport is a nice choice.
