Why not stop by Suttle Lake if you're passing through these parts. This lake is located in the wonderful Central Cascade Range. Squaw Creek has a great whitewater paddling spot close by, and Lodge at Suttle Lake is a fine spot to get some rest. I don't want to stop, cause I'm havin' a great time here at Suttle Lake. Suttle Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Black Butte Resort is a great local campground, and on a delightful day you can take

| | a hike along the Cache Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. It's a brilliant idea to visit Link Creek, it's close to Suttle Lake; dry warm beds await you at Best Western Ponderosa Lodge. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is great on Marion Creek; there is a nice hiking trail nearby called the Round Lake Trail. down into the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's while Suttle Lake night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's. There's so much to do here at Suttle Lake that you need to camp here for
a while, Suttle Lake Resort and Marina is a perfect place for that, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Dark Lake. Be careful coming to the Central Cascade Range, you might not ever wanna return
home again. Really fine skiing awaits you at Hoodoo, and if the weather is tremendous, you can go for a hike along the Little Lake Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Suttle Lake a wet place; most of the rain falls
through December, and the driest month is July. Yeah, come up here to the Central Cascade Range for a fine time. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Mt. Bachelor, and naturally, this is a tremendous area for people who like lakes, Scout Lake is a lake in the neighborhood.

Jefferson Lake Trail
 | I just completed this trail with my German Shepherd and had a great time. We made Jefferson Lake in 4 hours, stayed the night and returned at a faster pace, making the trailhead in 3 hours. A big portion of the trail is overgrown with 5ft. tall plant life, making the trail impossible to see. I used a compass to stay on course and bushwhack for about 3 miles, then picked up the trail again. It's obvious this trail hasn't received any attention from the forest service for some time now,so plan on using your nav skills on this one. We encountered a braver-than-average black bear while encamped at Jefferson Lake, and had difficulty finding a suitable place to hang a bear bag since all the trees are limbless due to a forest fire. My dog, Sigg, is a good bear deterrant and took the night shift guarding the food bag. If you are considering this trail, start early enough so you're not walking in the dark and bring some good jungle juice (deet). Bear bells may be useful as well. Hope this helps somebody!... |
