Suttle Lake is a beautiful lake in the Central Cascade Range. Throughout the months of summer at Suttle Lake temperatures are commonly in the 70's. All through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Suttle Lake. All year is a wonderful time in the Central Cascade Range if you go for the outdoors. You can run the rapids of Marion Creek in close proximity to

| | Suttle Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Lodge at Suttle Lake.
You'll need more than a day to discover everything Suttle Lake has to offer, you can camp at Black Butte Resort, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Round Lake Trail. Skiing at Mt. Bachelor is one of those things you just have to do, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Suttle Lake; Cache Lake Trail is a magnificent local trail.

if you don’t go skiing at Hoodoo while you're here, and there's magnificent hiking along the Little Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You'll come across a charming lake called Scout Lake near Suttle Lake, and get your heart pumping
on the brilliant whitewater of Squaw Creek.
This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Best Western Ponderosa Lodge is a great choice; while you're here, you could also visit beautiful Dark Lake. A good deal of precipitation
falls at Suttle Lake; December is the wettest month with most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture.

Jefferson Lake Trail
| I just completed this trail with my German Shepherd and had a great time. We made Jefferson Lake in 4 hours, stayed the night and returned at a faster pace, making the trailhead in 3 hours. A big portion of the trail is overgrown with 5ft. tall plant life, making the trail impossible to see. I used a compass to stay on course and bushwhack for about 3 miles, then picked up the trail again. It's obvious this trail hasn't received any attention from the forest service for some time now,so plan on using your nav skills on this one. We encountered a braver-than-average black bear while encamped at Jefferson Lake, and had difficulty finding a suitable place to hang a bear bag since all the trees are limbless due to a forest fire. My dog, Sigg, is a good bear deterrant and took the night shift guarding the food bag. If you are considering this trail, start early enough so you're not walking in the dark and bring some good jungle juice (deet). Bear bells may be useful as well. Hope this helps somebody!... |
