If you like lakes and you're in this part of Oregon you can check out Stagnant Lake. Stagnant Lake is pretty arid frequently; December is when you get the most snow here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. And if that's not sufficient there's a lot more entertaining stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range. After a long day outdoors Best Western Newberry Station is a great place to spend a night or two, and on a perfect day you can
take a hike along the Lucky Lake Trail. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Mt. Bachelor; Stagnant Lake is a brilliant spot to visit for more than one day, Wampus Campground is a brilliant spot to camp nearby.
This lake is so wonderful. The Corral Swamp Trail is a good hiking trail right next door to Stagnant Lake; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby South Twin Lake. Stagnant Lake is a beautiful lake

in the Central Cascade Range. Just can't get enough of the Central Cascade Range. If you come at the right time of year, Deschutes River offers some pleasant whitewater; Haner Butte is pretty and can be observed from here.
Stagnant Lake really is in the middle of a charming outdoors paradise. Lakes are tremendous; Wickiup Reservoir is a lake that's close to Stagnant Lake, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail. If you need a site to stay Sunriver Resort is a tremendous choice, and you can stay the night at Twin Lake Resort RV Park. At Stagnant Lake through the summer months highs are in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Stagnant Lake.
This lake is so wonderful.

Davis Lake
14 miles away
This website needs updating. I was there on Aug. 2nd,3rd, and 4th 2007. There are a LOT of bass there. We saw NO trout at all, and no one we talked to had caught or seen one. I was there with 2 others for bass fishing. there is no camping at the west boat launch area. Day use only. There are 2 camp sites on the east side. The Lava Flow site is closed, and has been for some time. There is a primative site there. No water or elec. and very primative boat launching area. You have to pole or row through the tules to get out on the lake. The old campground is closed because of Eagles nest there. Eagles are no longer on the endangerd spieces list. Why not re-open that area. it has a great boat ramp. Bass fishing was great, but not many large fish when we were there. Lots of smaller bass. We were told it was real good in late June and first half of July. We will try again next year....

Mt Bachelor is defined by its setting ? a pristine mountain experience that is as pure as the day the volcano erupted 15,000 years ago. Riders now enjoy 360-degree access to terrain off the Summit and Northwest chairlifts, a five year back catchline program that was just completed August 2008. Now you can pick a backside fall line that no other soul will take that day. An additional 980 acres off the Summit opens up expert rolling bowls and an additional 358 acres of wild tree riding is accessible west of the Northwest shoulder. All backside terrain is for the advanced rider.
In acknowledgement of the young advanced rider, Mt Bachelor sponsors a Freeriders and grommies (rippers under 13) with events and competitions almost every weekend. The resort hosts rail jams, superpipe competitions, boarder-cross and slalom races, slopestyle, freestyle and park comp...
