This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Soapstone Lake, you'll hit upon Warrenton Reservoir which is a picturesque lake, and Soapstone Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Nehalem Bay State Park is a great location to camp nearby. After a long day outdoors Microtel Seaside is a wonderful place to spend a night or two; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go       whitewater paddling on Nehalem River. Now, you may assume that's loads but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here in the Coast Ranges. Kilchis River - North Fork has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby, and there are plenty of people from Astoria here at Soapstone Lake. And if that's not sufficient there's a lot more exciting things to do in the Coast Ranges. Getting to Buchanan Creek from Soapstone Lake is easy; going for a hike along the Cannon                  Beach Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area.
