There is a magnificent hiking trail next to Smith Ponds called the Ball Point Trail, and why not camp at Wasco County Fairgrounds while you're here at Smith Ponds. The amount of rain that falls at Smith Ponds is close to the national average; most of the rain falls all through December, and the driest of the months is July. You're sure to stumble upon some good people from City of The Dalles here, and whitewater       paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend White River. Smith Ponds is located in the Central Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Fifteenmile Creek Trail is always a brilliant adventure, and dry warm beds await you at The Dalles Super 8 Motel. Through the long summer days highs here at Smith Ponds get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs                  in the 40's while Smith Ponds night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. All the outdoors cool things in the vicinity of Smith Ponds will keep you coming back over and over. The Pen Way Trail is a perfect hiking trail next to Smith Ponds.
