All year is a fine time in the Central Cascade Range if you adore the outdoors. If you come at the right time of year, Collawash River offers some great whitewater; the top of East Mountain is easily spotted from Skookum       Lake. All through the warm days of summer highs here at Skookum Lake get into the 70's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Skookum Lake. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Clackamas River; the South Fork Mountain Trail is a fine hiking trail close by. Skookum Lake Campground is a magnificent local campground;                  if you're here you can take a hike along the East Mountain Trail. Skookum Lake is located in the Central Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. A quick journey to Stroupe Creek next to Skookum Lake is a perfect idea, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Thunder Mountain Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things in the Central Cascade Range.
