Why not stop by Shuttpelz Lake if you're passing through these parts. Shuttpelz Lake is located in the Coast Ranges. Economy Inn Reedsport is a brilliant place to get some rest; North Eel Campground is a good local campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay William M Tugman is a brilliant site to camp, and the peak of Drake Dune can be seen from Shuttpelz Lake.

| | Lake, and Forest Hills Country Club is a golf course nearby. The high level of rain makes Shuttpelz Lake a quite wet place; December is when you get the most rain here, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Shuttpelz Lake there are plenty of people from Coos Bay.

doubt worth taking a look at. Lakes? Sure, Hall Lake is around here. Now, you may believe that's lots but there's even more fun things to do here in the Coast Ranges. Glide down the rapids of Millicoma River - West Fork in a kayak,
and hiking along the Threemile Lake Trail is tremendous fun. Summer at Shuttpelz Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and the overnight is fairly cooler of course, generally in the 50's. Throughout the winter the highs are
ordinarily in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Shuttpelz Lake drop into the 30's.
Now, you may believe that's a heap but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Shuttpelz Lake. Take a side tour to Clear Creek, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Salbasgeon Inn Of Reedsport.

The camp sites are varied with some along the lake and others along the dune. Speaking of the dune, the walk up and over the dune to the beach is great. Upper Pony Creek Reservoir

I work for the Coos Bay-North Bend water board and have the unique pleasure to view the Upper Pony Creek Dam, The Reservoir and the surrounding watershed when work there is required. The area is quiet as it is a restricted area and the resident Elk herd is often seen along with a deer or two once and a while. When the weather is nice the lake is a beautiful blue. The trees are in a scheduled harvest cycle and replaced when cut so there is stands of huge trees alongside smaller sized tree patches. all in all it is a pleasure to get to ''work'' in such a beautiful environment and to have the distinct opportunity to live in the area I do. It is possible to view this magnificant area when tours are made available through the Water Board.... |
Little North Woahink Lake

I was born here and in my 50 years, this is the very first time I've heard of Little North Woahink lake. At first I thought perhaps the author was talking about Little Woahink which is a tiny dammed private lake/reservoir off a northern arm of Woahink off Canary RD or maybe this was a tiny lake in the vacinity I'd never heard of, so I hunted around a little bit. Nope. There is no North Little Woahink. The author was simply referring to Woahink, which btw, is a nice destination for summer water skiing or picnicing, especially because of it's very close approximity to Honeyman State Park and it's campground. Honeyman has very comfortable ammenities. Check out the yerts!... |
