     Shumway Lake is always a pleasure to visit. A splendid close by hotel is Comfort Suites Redmond, and why not camp at Crooked River Ranch RV Park if you're here at Shumway Lake. Around Shumway Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; throughout the month of November you get the most rain around here, and September meanwhile is the driest month. During the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Shumway Lake with overnight lows in the 40's. Highs  
   all through the winter are commonly in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Shumway Lake tend to be in the 20's.
No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a fine time here at Shumway Lake. If you need a site to stay Best Western Rama Inn is a great choice, and camping is available at Expo RV Park. This lake is so wonderful. This is a splendid area for folks who like lakes. Zell Pond is a lake in the vicinity, and whitewater paddling is perfect
 
               on Crooked River.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Reynolds Pond is near Shumway Lake, and get drenched paddling on Deschutes River.

Crooked River Ranch RV Park

We chose this location because of my interest in the Crooked River gorge, and because it was within 1-day driving distance of John Day Fossil Beds. The park itself is quite nice...although there were parties on both sides of us, we did not feel crowded. The adjacent golf course pool is open to RV campers. It's a long walk, but a convenient short drive. There's a viewing platform overlooking the gorge, which was a plus for me. Rates were quite reasonable for the type of facility....
