Get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Collawash River, and there is a fine hiking trail close by called the Scorpion Ridge Trail. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors just come on       up to the Central Cascade Range. One of the main marks of the surroundings of Short Lake is Mansfield Mountain, and some of the water nearby flows, like Devils Creek. And if that's not enough, there's a load more to do right next door to Short Lake. There are pleasant locations to explore along the Thomas Trail; camping is available at Detroit Lake State Park. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend                  Breitenbush River; going for a hike on the Scorpion Mountain Trail is always a magnificent adventure. Summertime highs at Short Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Short Lake are in the 30's. Short Lake is a beautiful lake in the Central Cascade Range.
