A lake nearby is Teal Lake, and there are plenty of people from Coos Bay here. This place, the Coast Ranges, has so much outdoors cool stuff. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn at Coos Bay is a pleasant location to spend a night or two, and North Beach is reasonably close by if you're in a beach type of mood. | | camp, obviously you could also have a look at Lyons Reservoir if you're here; it's not far at all.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Firs Mobile Home and RV Park if you're here at Sandpoint Lake; if you need a place to stay Red Lion Hotel Coos Bay is a splendid choice. Sandpoint Lake gets a large amount of water; most of the rain falls during December, and July meanwhile is the driest month.

High temperatures at Sandpoint Lake during the long summer days are in the 60's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Sandpoint Lake are in the 30's.
This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Threemile Lake Trail is brilliant fun, and a golf course close by is Kentuck Golf Course.
If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Coast Ranges. Visit Charlotte Creek since you're here at Sandpoint Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Millicoma River - West Fork.

Upper Pony Creek Reservoir
 | Hi Ken--I'm trying to locate a USGS survey marker not too far from the headwaters of Pony Creek. I believe it's on the Libby Road in the NW corner of sec. 9, T 26S R13W. Have you ever seen it? Frank (local historian)....I work for the Coos Bay-North Bend water board and have the unique pleasure to view the Upper Pony Creek Dam, The Reservoir and the surrounding watershed when work there is required. The area is quiet as it is a restricted area and the resident Elk herd is often seen along with a deer or two once and a while. When the weather is nice the lake is a beautiful blue. The trees are in a scheduled harvest cycle and replaced when cut so there is stands of huge trees alongside smaller sized tree patches. all in all it is a pleasure to get to ''work'' in such a beautiful environment and to have the distinct opportunity to live in the area I do. It is possible to view this magnificant area when tours are made available through the Water Board.... |
